Isla Incahuasi is a little cactus island in the middle of the Uyuni salt flats. Cactus galore.
Climbing up, we had a marvellous view of the surrounding salt flats. Boggles my brain how the drivers remember the way to an island in the middle of nowhere.
And at the very top, a grand 360° vista awaits. Standing there, I could imagine how out-of-this-world beautiful the Uyuni salt flats must be during the rainy season. The vast white expanse rimmed with seemingly baby volcanoes and hills was heartstoppingly beautiful as it is. Throw in a giant mirror, the beauty would be amplified xxx times. Yup, can’t strike the salt flats off my bucket list yet. I have to return for the rainy season first.
At one point, I was puzzled by dark waving patches which suddenly appeared on the ground, till I realised they were actually shadows cast by the clouds above. Amazing.
Yay, lunch time! Chino had this set-up waiting for us. Isn’t it delightful? Once again, I was struck by how Asian some of these Bolivian dishes are. The sausage and carrot dish could easily have been taken out of my kitchen.
