Ephesus (or “Efes” by locals) was an ancient Greek city and an important centre of trade and learning at various points of history. The ruins are spread out over a large area and some are fairly well-preserved. It took us approximately 2 hours to fully explore the entire site.

Library of Celsus
The Library of Celsus is the most distinctive structure associated with Ephesus today. Only the facade still stands but our imaginations took care of the rest. It was built in honour of Julius Celsus Polemaenus, a Roman Governor.
How to Get to Ephesus
To get to Ephesus, we flew into Izmir airport and from there, we took a bus to Selcuk. Once in Selcuk, Ephesus is easily accessible via regular mini buses from the town’s main bus station.
