Duomo di Milano is a work of art. The level of detail that went into this behemoth is astounding.
The amount of tourists in the piazza was crazy. The queue to purchase the entrance tickets and enter the cathedral was so long it look us over 45 minutes just to get in, but that was partly due to their inefficient system.

Going up on the Roof
What was more amazing was that we could go up onto the roof of the cathedral. Usually cathedrals have some sort of viewing platform or tower at the top but this was the first time we had the chance to stand and walk all over the roof.
There were two options for going up, stairs or lift. We chose to take the lift (entrance is at the back exterior of the cathedral), a decision we half-regretted when we saw that there was, once again, a queue. After another 30 minutes spent waiting in line, we were finally up and it was worth it. The views were stunning and we were able to see the intricate carvings and statues up-close. As far as I could tell, there were no repeat statues.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Right next to the cathedral was the famed Galleria Vittorio Emanuele.
The mall was smaller than I expected. It didn’t take us more than 15 minutes to walk through the entire length, but every inch was gorgeous!
