Stately Salzburg

View from Hohensalzburg Fortress

Salzburg is one of those cities I wouldn’t mind visiting again.

Mirabell Gardens

We had to skip the Sound of Music tour as we couldn’t squeeze it into our schedule. One of the film locations within the city which we could visit by ourselves was Mirabell Gardens. The children danced around the Pegasus fountain while singing “Do-Re-Mi”!

Salzburg Old Town (Altstadt)

Despite rain droplets and cloudy skies marring our sightseeing, the beauty of Salzburg’s gracious old town shone through.

Getreidegasse

The most famous shopping street in Salzburg, Getreidegasse is known for Mozart’s Birthplace and its creative wrought iron guild signs.

Hohensalzburg Fortress

We had the place virtually to ourselves. I’m guessing the weather and late hour (7 pm) turned others off. It certainly was chilly up there. The views from the fortress were spectacular.

April Snow

It snowed while we were in Salzburg! We knew it was a possibility based on weather forecasts, but April doesn’t exactly bring to mind snow-capped houses so it was still a surprise.

Burgerista

Yummy burgers! Burgerista is quite a unique burger restaurant as they have tons of different sauces for one to try and they even provide disposable bibs (more for fun than a necessity I think). A burger set was around 10 Euros.

H+ Hotel Salzburg

This hotel’s location was perfect! We could see it from the moment we exited the station, which was helpful as dragging suitcases in the cold is never fun. The central train station isn’t in Salzburg’s old town, hence, neither is the hotel. However, the 10-minute walk to Mirabell Gardens and 15-20 minutes to old town was enjoyable and manageable (except when it was snowing heavily).
