Our next stop was Mammoth Lakes, a small ski town along Highway 395, between Yosemite National Park and Los Angeles. I’m not sure why this area isn’t more well-known or more popular. It is chock-full of pretty lakes and snow-capped mountains. We stumbled upon photos of Mammoth Lakes online and decided to stay there for two nights before heading to LA.
We had a lovely day exploring the numerous crystalline lakes nearby. It wasn’t ski season yet (which works out as we do not ski), but there was already some snow on the mountains and on the ground, making for pleasing scenes all around. The tranquility and beauty of the area drew us in and quietly earned Mammoth Lakes a place in our hearts forever.
Mammoth Lakes Accommodations
Didn’t hurt that we had a lovely room at Juniper Springs Resort to return to.
