Onwards to another beautiful flamingo-filled lagoon.
Laguna Hedionda
Lunch
Lunch was in a quiet town. Hard to believe it was a real town. There were hardly any people on the streets.
In the “restaurant” (more like a dining room), the tables were initially filled with other tour groups but it soon emptied out. We cleared the table and had some drinks while our food was being prepared by Chino. Drivers double-up as the cook here. I’m liking the food in Bolivia so far. Simple, but satisfying.
Museo Necropolis Kausay Wasi
This necropolis has small dome-shaped tombs composed of rows of stones, with human skulls and skeletons resting in them. One could literally reach in and grab a bone as there is no glass or barrier in the viewing window. Not my cup of tea though. I stopped looking into the tombs after I peered into one and got a shock. Didn’t take any photos as I was too weirded out. There is also a fairly informative tiny museum on-site.
City of Llamas
So-named for the huge population of llamas in this area.
A lonely railway.
That’s all for day 2. We were dropped off at the hotel soon after.
